202 S. Summit AveAn overview of Olive Branch Learning Center.
The Olive Branch Learning Center is a project of Olive Branch Preparatory School, Inc. The Learning Center offers high-quality instructional courses in all core subjects, plus enrichment courses, to homeschooling students and families in grades K–5.
Olive Branch courses are designed to be unique in their alignment with the mission and vision of the organization: promoting high-caliber, hands-on, real-world knowledge and skills. We believe that children will surprise us with how much they can thrive and excel when the right ingredients are present in the learning environment, and great teachers are the backbone of that environment.
We believe in the infinite potential of every child, in Deen and Dunya.
Above and beyond
No compromises needed: course content at OBLC meets or exceeds grade-level state standards.
Communication & transparency
We remove the guesswork with weekly updates on academic progress and full visibility into classroom activities.
In-person learning
OBLC prioritizes a healthy social and emotional climate that promotes your child’s academic success.
From first inquiry to flourishing.
Choose your courses
Enroll in the full six-course package, or select only the modules your child needs. Mid-term enrollment is prorated, and a waitlist opens when classes fill.
We assess and place
Kindergarteners must be 5 by September 3. Qur’an students are assessed by level, and placement never exceeds one grade above a child’s default grade.
Learn, four days a week
Classes run Monday through Thursday, roughly 9:00am to 2:00pm, in classes of 10 to 12 students. Fridays stay open for your family and Jumu’ah.
See the progress
Weekly instructor updates, a parent-teacher conference each term, optional NWEA MAP testing, and a portfolio binder ready for your county homeschool review.
The essentials at a glance.
Levels & class size
Level 1 serves KG–1st, Level 2 serves 2nd–3rd, and Level 3 serves 4th–5th, with 10 to 12 students per course.
Terms & calendar
Three terms of 12 instructional weeks each, with holidays and closings closely following the MCPS calendar.
Assessment
No A–F grades: a three-tier proficiency rubric, optional NWEA MAP testing each term, and portfolio binders for county reviews.
New this year
Soccer and basketball teams, an Arabic language program, an after-school Qur’an Hifz program, woodworking and enrichment clubs, and regular field trips.
Eligibility
Families must be registered homeschoolers with their county. Kindergarteners must be 5 years old by September 3.
Faith, woven in
Islamic mindset and character development are infused throughout the entire school day, not confined to one subject.
See it for yourself.
We hold a virtual information session in June and an onsite open house in August, insha’Allah. Or start your enrollment today.
